Digging Spades

I was walking to my home from a work I had. I passed through a construction site where there might be a new building coming up. Instead of looking at the jaw dropping infrastructure poster with vibrant colors, my eyes fell on the people who were digging. I just stopped. In a temperature of 42 degree Celsius, these people are digging the land with no machinery. They are just using a digging spade. The building that might be coming up must have focused lot on other things and must have saved money on bringing the latest machinery to dig the hole. It is good in some way as people get a chance to earn their daily living, but they are treated badly. I am not talking about the people who are treating them, its the tools that they are given to construct the building.

Many people might not be able to get what a digging spade might be, so it looks something like below:

Most of you must have seen these. You know how long these tools have been used? Just give it a guess and if you cannot, just look at the image below, you might get an idea:

Now can you make an approximation? It was used in the early times of the human era when the people have just learnt to build their houses. They used these to clear their lands from weeds and dig small holes to cook food.

What is the change that you have seen? There are lot of machines that have come these days that can dug out tonnes of dirt in a single slash. But we don't have to automate everything, we need to do AUTONOMATION. Now many must be wondering what is autonomation, well autonomation is getting the best technology but not forgetting the human touch in that machine.

Though these digging spades have got older, they require some design changes. Anything that you have in mind?
